I was driving into Monument Valley when a storm came in low—so low it felt like the clouds were moving across the ground. The clouds climbed, rolled over the monuments, and swallowed the familiar forms of the buttes and mesas. I stopped, set myself to wait, and photographed the moment with intention. The scene allowed for a slower pace—composition, light, and proportion all aligning for a little while as the storm moved through.
This image is about presence: seeing the monument not as a landmark but as a living shape within weather and time. The red rock provides structure; the low clouds provide movement and mood.
